If you are successful in getting accepted on to a Platform2 trip, you'll be given a login and password to sign in to the My Platform2 section of the site. In this section, you'll be able to find out information about your trip such as flight times and health advice as well as lots of other info about the country you'll be travelling to.

You need to go through a number of steps both before and after you are accepted onto the Platform2 programme.

These are relatively straightforward and designed to make sure that Platform2 is the right programme for you.

The whole selection and placement process can take between 2 and 4 months.

So, for example, if you apply in May and are successful, you can expect to travel somewhere between July and October. The process can go more quickly though if necessary and you can also apply earlier than 4 months before if you need to.

To complete the application process, you will need to fill in an application form and ask two people to be your references. Information on who these people can be is on the guidance notes which is part of the application form. You will also need to write a supporting statement, the details of which can be found on the application form. We will also need a photocopy of your birth certificate and passport, and four passport photos that adhere to international standards.

If you're having problems downloading the overview and application form, we can e-mail them to you.
